English World courses are designed to have an impact on the present and future life of the learner in an international environment. Our programme has five complementary elements that give the student all the tools they need to operate confidently and successfully in the international arena.

The Accuracy in Grammar session perfects core grammar skills.

The Knowledge for a Global Community session allows the student to practise and develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing and critical thinking skills via the medium of history, culture, economics, politics and the arts.

Skills Training addresses a different skill each day in a workshop alternating between Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Business Skills, Active Study or Study Skills.

The Language Focus session is directed towards further language and skills development according to the needs of the student such as conversational vocabulary or writing techniques.

The Spoken Performance Workshop empowers the student to develop their skills in a range of speaking situations through role-plays, pair work and public speaking activities, often using drama based approaches to achieve confident performance in the spoken language.

In this way, you make the maximum possible progress because the teacher is able to focus on your needs and your personal learning style in every lesson. Throughout the day, you can supplement your lessons with self-study in our quiet areas or Study Centres. This helps to consolidate the work done during lessons. Teachers set self-study exercises and give direction and guidance for students to maximise their consolidation time between lessons.

English for Specific Purposes

Individual tuition programmes are ideal for those who need to improve their English language skills for specific purposes. These programmes are available at our schools in London and Oxford where we offer English for finance, IT, pharmaceuticals, aviation, EU integration, the legal profession and the oil and gas industry. Teachers are chosen for their experience in or background knowledge of the subject areas.

IELTS Exam Preparation

Prepare for the IELTS English test that allows entry to universities in Britain, Canada and Australia. Your course consists of five complementary sessions which combine core language skills with specific exam preparation and exam practice.

Cambridge Exam Preparation

The First Certificate (FCE) course is designed for Intermediate students; the Cambridge Advanced (CAE) and Cambridge Proficiency (CPE) courses are for Advanced students. These courses are suitable for students who want a structured course and an internationally recognised qualification. Your course consists of five complementary sessions which combine core language skills with specific exam preparation and exam practice.
